Networking
In order to encourage bonding and peer networking, students participate in all activities as a group and are required to attend every activity. The daily schedule provides an intensive experience that introduces students to the rigors of the university’s quarter system and the demands of a graduate or professional school. Through attending the numerous activities such as the rope challenge course, adventure-based team building courses, and much more, ULMSP students are able to network and build solid connections with each other and continue to utilize their network once they transition into University life and beyond.
ULMSP not only introduces students to each other, but also to a wide variety of health careers and professionals in the biomedical, behavioral, health and public health fields. Students are able to build their professional and academic networks through a multitude of opportunities. Students are given a lecture-based series where health professionals and graduate students meet and speak with them about their career and pathways. Students are also able to network during site visits to community clinics, the UCSD Student Run Free Clinics, the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, community health centers, and local hospitals such as UCSD Hillcrest and Scripps Chula Vista. Through these learning experiences, students meet professionals, who may provide opportunities for work, internships, research, advising and/or mentoring during the course of their academic career.
